CM Lodestar Electric Chain Hoist

Outstanding in Design and Performance

The CM Lodestar electric chain hoist has quieter operation, an environmentally friendly design, and easy access to components. Additionally, it has high duty cycles, less maintenance, and enhanced safety features. You don’t have to worry about the lower hook block capsizing and causing damage. The CM Lodestar electric chain hoist is also available as a 2 Ton single-reeved unit.

Less Maintenance, Easier Inspection, Longer Service Life

Designed to last a lifetime. The Heavy Duty DC Brake has helical gearing, giving you efficient operation. Its location allows you to have quick access and easy inspection.

The Gear Box contains precision gears and is lifetime grease-lubricated. This means you no longer have to do oil changes and your CM Lodestar will have a longer life.

Reduce your downtime by eliminating the need for complete disassembly of your electric chain hoist. You’ll have easy access to the clutch since it is located outside of the Gearbox.

Guaranteed by a lifetime warranty.

Improved Serviceability

You’ll have easy access to the Clutch, Motor, Electrical Control Panel, and Brake Assembly.

Quieter Operation

CM Lodestar’s sound pressure is 80% less than the Classic Lodestar.

Improved Load Safety

Located outside of the load path, the clutch prevents the slipping of a load when the brake is not powered.

Improved Chain Life

The 5-Pocket Life Wheel provides better chain lift wheel engagement. You’ll have smoother lifting and reduced vibration, giving you a longer chain life.

Designed and manufactured in the USA by Columbus McKinnon. The Star Grade chain is zinc plated, protecting the chain from corrosion. The standard for a 2 Ton, single-reeved unit features a 10mm load chain.

Easy Access Control Panel

The CM Lodestar features a Control Panel with finger-safe wiring and plug-and-play connectors. You’ll have quick voltage change, access to terminal strips, and simple fuse installations.

Exceeds H4 Requirements

Engineered for high duty cycles and tough applications.

Environmentally Friendly

The Gearbox is lifetime grease lubricated. You’ll no longer have to change and dispose of hazardous oil.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I perform a hook inspection?

Examine hooks for the following:

  • Missing or illegible hook manufacturer’s identification or secondary manufacturer’s identification
  • Missing or illegible rated load identification
  • Excessive pitting or corrosion
  • Cracks, nicks, or gouges
  • Wear—any wear exceeding 10% (or as recommended by the manufacturer) of the original section dimension of the hook or its load pin
  • Deformation—any visible apparent bend or twist from the plane of the unbent hook
  • Throat opening—any distortion causing an increase in throat opening of 5% not to exceed 1/4” (6mm), or as recommended by the manufacturer
  • Inability to lock—any self-locking hook that does not lock
  • Inoperative latch (if provided)—any damaged latch or malfunctioning latch that not close the hook’s throat
  • Damaged, missing, or malfunctioning hook attachment and securing means
  • Thread wear, damage, or corrosion
  • Evidence of heat exposure or unauthorized welding
  • Evidence of unauthorized alterations such as drilling, machining, grinding, or other modifications

If signs of any of those listed above are visually apparent, then use of said hook is mandated to be out of service until proper repair by qualified personnel has been performed.

How often should I perform a hook inspection?

In order to ensure your safety, the ASME requires hooks to be periodically inspected once a month. If a professional recommends even more often, then this supersedes the periodic monthly inspection.
