Extend motor life and reduce maintenance cost on AC motors with the Danfoss VLT Micro Drive FC 51 VFD. A Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) controls the motor’s start and speed. It lowers the startup torque and surge by starting the motor at a reduced amperage. Every motor should have a VFD to make it run smoother and last longer. A VFD also improves motor efficiency by 30% on average and minimizes motor repair and maintenance.

Applications for VLT Micro Drive FC 51
Customers have used the VLT Micro Drive FC 51 in a variety of applications to make work systems more productive by increasing the lifetime of AC motors and to minimize downtime forced by equipment repair and maintenance. Most of our customers have installed the VLT Micro Drive FC 51 on overhead bridge cranes but it can also be used on conveyors, fans, mixers, extruders, pumps, palletizers, packing machines, and other industrial appliances. Depending on the industry VFDs are also called adjustable speed drives, AC drives, micro-drives, and inverters.
How a VFD Works
A VFD is a type of AC motor controller that drives an electric motor by varying the frequency and voltage supplied to it. It can be programmed to function for specific application to improve precision and efficiency in the workspace.

Danfoss VFD’s are extremely reliable with built in capabilities to operate on three phase or single phase. The RS485 communication allows for full control with a 2 wire connection.
